MikroTik RB260GS

The MikroTik RouterBOARD 260GS, also known as CSS106-5G-1S, is a compact SOHO switch that is exceptionally versatile yet straightforward in design and functionality. It features five Gigabit Ethernet ports and one SFP cage, making it suitable for a range of networking applications in small office/home office settings.

Driven by a powerful Atheros QCA8337 switch chip, the RB260GS ensures efficient handling of network traffic across its interfaces. The dimensions of 113x139x28mm make this device unobtrusive and ideal for environments where space is at a premium but network performance cannot be compromised. Furthermore, this switch is designed to operate within a temperature range of -20°C to 70°C, demonstrating its reliability under varying environmental conditions. With a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of approximately 100,000 hours at 25°C, the RB260GS is built to last and deliver continuous service.

The inclusion of an SFP cage allows for integration with fiber optic connections, significantly expanding network reach and uplink capabilities. The switch is tested and recommended for use with MikroTik SFP modules such as S-85DLC05D, S-31DLC20D, and S-35/53LC20D, though these modules are sold separately.

MikroTik's SwOS powers the RB260GS, providing an intuitive web browser interface for configuration. SwOS allows for detailed management of the switch's capabilities including port-to-port forwarding, MAC filtering, VLAN configuration, traffic mirroring, and bandwidth limitation. It also supports adjustments to MAC and IP header fields, offering enhanced control over traffic flow and network segmentation.

The RB260GS offers flexibility in power sources, supporting both an 11-30 V DC jack and Passive PoE input. It maintains a low power consumption of just 5 watts, aligned with energy-efficient technology practices while still delivering robust performance. This device is equipped with passive cooling to maintain optimal operating temperatures without the need for mechanical fans.
